ShopRite Adds Retail Jobs in Connecticut
Posted on July 13, 2010
ShopRite has opened a completely renovated store and will be adding several new retail jobs in Connecticut, company spokespeople confirm.
The new store is located at 775 Main Street South in Southbury. It occupies the space formerly owned by Shaw’s Supermarket. Connecticut has about 22 ShopRite stores total. The Southbury ShopRite is owned and operated by the Cingari family, who have been in the supermarket business since 1943, through three generations. Through their Norwalk-based company, Grade A Markets Inc., the family operates nine ShopRite stores, including seven in Fairfield County and two in New Haven County.
The location has everything one would need from a supermarket, including a baked goods corner, sushi bar, fresh meats and deli counter, seafood, natural and organic aisles, prepared hot foods, produce, sandwich shop, and olive bar. It will be open from 7 to 11 PM daily.
About 200 full and part-time employees will be staffed at the new 60,000 sq foot store, which will also contain a new pharmacy.
ShopRite is owned by Wakefern, provides goods and services, such as procurement, warehousing, transportation, distribution and advertising, to the 46 companies and individuals who own and operate the 217 ShopRite stores in six states, including Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.
Wakefern owns 27 ShopRite stores.
