Career fair for veterans jobs

Posted on March 4, 2018

A career fair will be held for veterans jobs in Connecticut.

The Heroes 4 Hire Veterans Career Fair will return April 4 at the Pratt & Whitney Rentschler Field Ballroom in East Hartford. The veterans-focused event, to be held 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., is the largest of its kind in New England. This year’s sponsors include the Connecticut Department of Labor, the Connecticut Department of Veterans Affairs, Entercom radio, Pratt & Whitney, and Travelers.

According to State Labor Commissioner Scott D. Jackson, veterans can expect to meet with more 60 employers and organizations that are looking to fill jobs or provide information about education programs, apprenticeship opportunities, job training, and employment services.

“Veterans bring what employers want most – dependability, accountability and leadership skills,” Jackson notes. “When you hire a veteran, you add value to your business and make an impact in your community by investing in America’s heroes.”

“Veterans and their spouses are encouraged to attend this free career event and meet with a wide range of companies, service providers and educational institutions regarding employment opportunities and programs that serve veterans,” said project chair Dan Laffin of the Connecticut Department of Labor’s Office for Veterans’ Workforce Development.

For companies and organizations interested in taking part, the registration fee is $325 and includes a skirted table, company sign listing in the event’s program guide, and advertising.

Now in its 14th year, the event typically attracts well over 600 veterans who offer a range of skills to fill jobs ranging from entry level to technical, sales, IT and management.
